Combustible material, ignition source, fuel and oxygen…………….all essential contributors to the initial outbreak and continued development of a fire – wherever it may occur.
Early suppression or extinguishing of a fire condition is critically important. EVERY fire is initially a small event. If you can prevent its development it becomes much easier to limit damage to life and property. Ultimately, prevention is the answer – prevent the cause of fire ignition and no extinguishing is needed. It should be remembered that no matter what the origin of a fire, for fire extinguishing the formula is the same…….remove one or more of the elements of the fire triangle and no fire can exist.
If a fire had started – it will go out.
If a fire were about to start - it would not be possible for it to do so.
A major factor affecting fire behaviour is heat transfer. Building and fire code requirements often are predicated on the goal of minimizing the influence of heat transfer through conduction, convection and radiation. So this also could be considered a key to preventing, controlling and extinguishing a fire.
Many heat actuated automatic detectors are point type devices which have been designed for installation at high levels – potentially some distance from the fire source and which may be susceptible to delays in alarm signal generation as a result of unfavourable air flows. An EXCEPTION to this is LINE TYPE LINEAR TEMPERATURE SENSING. A detection concept which is constructed from a small diameter temperature sensitive cable that can be installed at the exact point of risk. Its mechanical construction also allows it to much more closely follow the contours of the area or item it is protecting. Proline linear temperature sensor cable monitors variances in temperature along 100% of its installed length (multi - kms) and may very easily be integrated into a customer central fire alarm or building management control panel system. The DIGITAL linear sensor cable is not dependent upon any minimum length exposure before its pre-specified alarm temperature is signalled. Proline also provides the end user customer with the option of being able to identify the point along its length from where the alarm has been detected.
